Japanese Healing Art
Hands on Healing has been around for many centuries and has been practiced among many cultures. This traditional form of Japanese Healing Art had been taught by Dr. Mikao Usui, Founder of the Reiki System of Natural Healing. Reiki (pronounced Rey-Key) combines the characters Rei, meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power,” and Ki, meaning “life force energy.” Together, Reiki, translated from the Japanese- “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a technique for transmitting energy through the hands into the human energy system. It gently and effectively opens blocked meridians, chakras, and clears the energy bodies, leaving one feeling relaxed and at peace. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress. Reiki aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation. It promotes healing, health and allows our Ki to flow in harmonic balance within ourselves as well as with our surroundings. In order to allow our mind, body, heart & spirit to heal, our energetic field must also be in complete harmony & balance. Working with the subtle energy fields that are within and around our bodies, DesertStar Healing, facilitates the self-healing energies of the individual that are needed at that time during the Reiki Healing Session. DesertStar Healing facilitates the balancing of physical, emotional, mental & spiritual energies.
Reiki involves the transfer of energy through the Practitioner to client to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself, through the balancing of energy. Reiki utilizes specific techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy within the body. The Reiki energy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, removes energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibration frequency of the body. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Preparation & Explanation of Reiki Healing Session
To enhance the clients comfort level, loose and comfortable clothing is suggested during the treatment and it is preferred to remove all objects from pockets, jewelry, watches, or eyeglasses. The Practitioner instructs the client to lie down on the massage table face up for half of the session and face down through the remainder of the session. Both the Practitioner & the client may take a few moments to enter a calm or meditative state of mind before the session, thus proceeding with hands on healing technique. However, the Practitioner may use a non-touching technique, where the hands are held a few centimeters away from the client’s body for some or all of the positions. The hands are usually kept in the position for three to five minutes before moving to the next position. Between 12 and 20 positions are utilized during the session, which takes approximately 1 hour. Hand positions vary along the length of the body – both anterior and posterior from the head, face, neck, throat, heart region, stomach, hips, thighs, calves and feet. If you have any concerns about hand positions, please discuss this openly with the Practitioner prior to or during treatment. The Reiki Session also includes specifically chosen music, essential oils, incense and smudge sticks; musical instruments, gemstones/minerals, and other healing tools utilized for healing and relaxation. Following the treatment, the Practitioner will gently wake the client from their meditative state of being. While fully aware, he/she may be in a deep state of relaxation. After the session, the client may rest comfortably for a few minutes, will be offered an herbal tea, and may use this time to talk about the session if there are any questions, concerns or comments. The feeling of rest and relaxation will stay with the client for hours or even days post healing session. Prior to a healing session, please do not consume “heavy” foods, alcohol, or mind altering substances. It is highly recommended to eat lightly at least 2 hours prior to session and also remember to rest and drink more than the usual amount of water after the session to help release toxins from the body.
