Angel Tarot Cards

“Tarot is a divination tool that dates back to the 14th century, and possibly to ancient Egypt. The second t in tarot is silent, so the word is pronounced “tair [rhymes with hair] oh.” Interestingly, in North America, the first syllable of the word is emphasized, whereas in other regions, it’s the second syllable. Tarot has touched the lives of countless individuals, giving them peace, comfort, and insight in times of joy as well as in times of challenge. It’s one of the most accurate ways to receive detailed guidance about your future and answers to your questions. Consulting tarot cards is like spending time with a dear wise relative who acknowledges both the shadows and the joys of life. However, many people are put off or frightened by the traditional images and phrases in tarot. The Angel Tarot Cards were created to preserve the ancient divination methods, while using only positive, gentle, and life-affirming words and pictures. Angel Tarot Cards retain the full scope of human emotions and experiences from traditional tarot, but reinterpret the fear-based images and words to enlighten, rather than to frighten, those who use the cards. The reinterpretation brings new and vibrant symbolism that may be unfamiliar to experienced tarot practitioners. However, whether you’re new to tarot or well versed in it, you’ll find that the messages in this deck are uplifting, refreshing, and accurate.

Tarot was originally two sets of cards, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. (Arcana is the plural of arcanum, meaning a deep or profound secret or mystery.) The two sets were later combined into the now-traditional 78 cards.

The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards that describe major events and turning points in our lives (such as marriage, pregnancy, relationship and career changes, and overcoming personal challenges). The Major Arcana can also represent the different phases from childhood to old age. The Minor Arcana represents more ordinary day-to-day life events and are divided into four suits or elements: fire, water, air, and earth. The Minor Arcana cards are numbered 1 (Ace) through 10, plus the court cards—a Page (card 11), a Knight (card 12), a Queen (card 13), and a King (card 14)—for each suit.

In the Angel Tarot Card Deck each Major Arcana card features one of the 15 principal archangels. (A few archangels appear on more than one card, as they embody aspects of several cards.) These archangels provide strong protection and clear guidance as you travel along your spiritual path. The Major Arcana cards can also be mixed in with your other angel oracle decks to provide additional details in your readings. The Minor Arcana consists of four suits or elements. Angel Tarot represent’s the earth element with paintings of fairies, air with unicorns, water with mermaids, and fire with friendly dragons. (air is traditionally represented by swords in tarot,  Angel Tarot replaces the weapons with the gentler one of unicorns whose horns are sword-like.) Court cards can represent either a situation or a person during a reading. When the reading shows the influence of another person in your life (such as a lover), Pages and Queens represent females (or feminine men), and Knights and Kings represent males (or masculine women).

The cards in this deck are rich with symbolism and imagery, and the illustrations also provide answers and messages. Notice where your attention is drawn within each card’s painting, as the illustration can hold equally important messages. Reversed or upside-down cards mean that you especially need to focus upon the issue connected to that particular card. Reversals can also mean that the energy around that particular card’s meaning is beginning to lessen.

On a historical note, the Major Arcana was originally created with Justice as the 8th card and Strength as the 11th card. However, at the turn of the 20th century, Arthur Edward Waite flipped the cards’ positions when he created his famous Rider-Waite deck. They have been restored to their original positions in the Angel Tarot Cards.”

Major & Minor Arcana

IMG_20130810_125703_665-1

Tarot was originally two sets of cards, the Major & Minor Arcana.

The two sets were later combined into the now-traditional 78 cards.

The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards describing major life events and turning points in our lives. These cards also represent the different stages from childhood to old age. Each is numbered, as is traditional in Tarot, and features an Archangel who is associated with the cards message. The element of Spirit is represented by Archangels in the Major Arcana.

The Minor Arcana represents more ordinary day-to-day life events and is divided into four suits or elements: Fire, Water, Air & Earth. The elements are represented in the Angel Tarot Deck as;  Fire- Dragons, Water- Mermaids/Mermen, Air- Unicorns, Earth- Fairies. The Minor Arcana cards are numbered I (Ace) through 10, plus the court cards — a Page (card 11), a Knight (card 12), a Queen (card 13), and a King (card 14) for each suit.

 Fire

Ideas, Inspiration

 Dragons

The Suit of Fire (Red) represents our ideas and inspirations. It’s where we feel passion, display amazing creativity, and set our dreams into motion. The fire element reflects our career, art, adventure, risk-taking, and self-development. Fire can also represent any of your passions. Dragons are the symbol for the Suit of Fire, because of their fiery nature and their iconic place in our imaginations.

In a traditional Tarot deck Fire is represented as the Wand set and in the Angel Tarot deck, the element of Fire is represented by Dragons, the cards are labeled as “Six of Fire”, “Seven of Fire” and so forth. Picture the “fire” breathing image of a Dragon as well as the Chinese Astrology depiction of the Dragon behavior. Fire is action oriented.

Water

Emotions

 Mermaids

The Suit of Water (Turquoise) represents the depth of our emotions. It’s where we fall in love, nurture our children, and open our hearts to deep feelings. The water cards represent love, romance, relationships, family, dreams, and desires. The suit of water also represents the depths of our intuitive and psychic gifts. The beautiful and watery realm of Mermaids and Mermen represent the Suit of Water, because of these creatures’ ability to plunge deep into the hidden worlds of the emotions and the unconscious.

Water is represented by using Mermaids as the star of this part within the set. In a traditional Tarot it would be known as “Cups”, here its been changed to “Water”: “Seven of Water”, “Eight of Water” etc. The visions of the Mermaids in blue sparkling water associate with emotions, feeling and needs. The Mermaids dive into the depths of water or in this case assists us with getting to the core of an issue internally in order to manifest our desires.

—Air

IMG_20130810_122111_625-1Gemini, Libra, Aquarius ~ Mercury, Venus, Uranus

Intellect

 Pegasus, Unicorn

The Suit of Air (Blue) represents our intellect. It’s where we make decisions, analyze situations, and give voice to our thoughts. The suit of air represents justice, truth, ideals, the legal system, communication and other intellectual areas. As fear and worry generally live in the mind, the suit of air can also involve struggles and concerns in our lives. To represent the Suit of Air, Unicorns were chosen because of their tranquil essence and symbolize peaceful thoughts.

As for the Sword set in a traditional Tarot which would be the element of ‘Air’, in Angel Tarot it is represented by Unicorns. “Five of Air”, “Six of Air” etc. Imagine a Unicorns horn as a symbol of the Sword. Unicorns are airy and whimsical just like the element of Air which also represents thought and mental processes.

Earth

IMG_20130810_121832_671-1Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn ~ Venus, Saturn, Mercury

Material world, objects, issues

 Fairies

The Suit of Earth (Green) represents the material world, in which we deal with making a living, caring for our bodies, and looking after mother earth. Aspects of our lives represented by this suit include money, work, home, security, health, resources, education, society, and the environment. For the Earth Suit, the realm of Fairies were chosen because of their magical manifesting abilities and their close connection to our planet, Earth.

The Pentacles reside in the Earth element in a traditional Tarot, but in the Angel Tarot deck the images are of Fairies in garden like atmospheres, “Three of Earth”, “Four of Earth”. etc. Fairies are outside in nature and assist us with concrete needs such as finances, home and sometimes obtaining love.

Spirit

DesertStar ~ Tarot & Oracle Cards

Tarot

The word Tarot was originally spelled ìRotaî,  which means wheel. The Tarot recalls eternal pictures and symbols that include myth and folklore, and express basic psychological ideas. We use the Tarot as a living form that is tied into the existing Universe. In essence, the Tarot is a simulacrum of the Universe. The Tarot operates on the Law of Attraction— that is, what may appear as a random selection of shuffled cards is actually a precise arrangement that coincides to form the answers and insights that address a specific query. What is true about the Tarot is that it opens up a door that allows us to take a journey to the center of our being, to our primary source: it is a door to our unconscious. We can conclude that the esoterical teachings transmitted through the bases of symbolic images called Tarot, continue nowadays impacting the human subconscious. As every Oracle, Tarot may be used in different situations, to inspire us in view of a certain issue(s), to try to figure out which is the best way to follow in view of certain situation, as a guide or comfort.

Tarot Cards

Tarot Cards (or taroc cards, or tarocchi cards) were originally used for playing a card game called tarocchi, and had no more or less to do with foretelling the future than did other types of playing cards. Most modern Tarot cards consist of 78 cards and are used for divination or as a symbol-system for personal growth and development. Regardless of their original use, as a clever card game or a clever way to impart mystical teachings in the 1300’s in Europe it is the wisdom and guidance we gleam from their images today that may be the most intriguing. The images of the Tarot do not mean people, things or events; they project to people, things, or events within the context of the inevitable mental odyssey. Thus, when the Tarot is consulted, it is not the cards that we have to read rather than our own life reflected on these images. The Tarot, like the images that we see in our dreams, burst into our lives to show us aspects of our personality that want to be recognized. They bring us messages of great importance in non-verbal languages, which are symbols. This is why the Tarot has an immense power to activate our imagination, because the cards are inspired in human experience and in the deepest levels of our mind. In the hands of an adept, they tell your story and portray your journey.

Oracle Cards

Oracle : a source of wise counsel or prophetic opinion; an infallible authority, usually spiritual in nature

Oracle Decks, Divination Decks, Meditation Cards, and Cartomantic or Non-Tarot Decks of all kinds. Oracle Cards are used for similar purposes to Tarot Cards, but have varying numbers of cards – from as low as 20 to as many as 144 – and may be based on any structure or any topic. Oracle Cards are used to provide an insight and positive outlook for those seeking answers to their most inner questions. Oracle Decks are great for finding inspiration to move to the next level in your life – or just make a difficult decision, by looking at it from a fresh perspective. Oracle Cards are the easiest way to get clear answers, especially if you’re stressed, worried, or sensitive to the energies of this world.
